Outlook stores all your email messages, meetings and events, contacts, and tasks in data files. You can run the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to scan your Outlook data files and repair errors. Outlook caches various files to speed up your app experience. When you have issues with the app, it’s likely the app’s cached files are corrupted.

They’re like helpful accessories, but sometimes they can cause trouble. To troubleshoot the "Outlook Won’t Open in Windows 10" error, try these solutions. You can start Outlook in safe mode, disable your add-ins, and then try to open Outlook normally. If you are figuring out how to fix "Outlook Not Opening," you will find several possible solutions. The best part is that you are spoiled for choice because some are quick to implement while others are time-consuming.

When PST files are beyond the repair scope of the Inbox Repair Tool (ScanPST.exe), third-party PST recovery tools can be a lifesaver. These programs are specifically designed to handle more complex data corruptions. They use advanced scanning and recovery algorithms to parse severely damaged files, reconstruct them, and recover their contents. Restarting your device clears temporary files and can fix minor software conflicts. If the above solutions are not working up to the mark, it simply indicates the corruption in your Outlook PST files.

In some specific cases, we observed that the problem no longer stayed after deleting the Outlook App Data folder. Thus, you can try deleting the Outlook App Data folder and check whether Outlook functions in your case; follow the below process. After the scan is complete successfully, try to open Outlook 2016 again and check if it throws the same error message or is now working perfectly. Now, launch Outlook 2016 again and check if the issue persists or not, and if it does, you may follow up with other workarounds given below. You can choose to repair the program both online and offline, whichever solutions suit you best.

My Outlook PST files (30+GB) were still accessible but running off a hard-drive that had started to fail with bad sectors. I was unable to clone the drive or copy the PST files to a new location. Recovery toolbox was able to rebuild my data files as a new data file on a replacement drive location and continue to use my mail file after the recovery process. Tried many other recommended solutions but none were able to help with the recovery apart from the recovery toolbox for outlook. Try to recover your data to separate files, it may help.

The best thing about the tool is that it can also retrieve permanently deleted data from a PST file after repairing it. In such cases, users first need to repair the damaged PST file and then restore their Outlook account. Our software requires that the damaged file is fully readable so if you can copy the file to a normal, not crashed hard drive, our software will probably help you.

For more information, see Introduction to Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost). You can determine if it's corrupted by creating a new profile and changing which profile is used when Outlook Fix Outlook troubleshooting hub starts.
